Step 1: Decide how much milk you need each week.

Remember, each full herdshare entitles you to one full gallon of milk each week*. You can buy a starter share that is equivalent to as little as a quart per week, or get multiple gallons of milk weekly by purchasing multiple full shares. You can also buy half-shares and any combination in between.

Step 2: Decide where you want to pick up your milk.

Pasture's Delights provides a bi-weekly delivery service to various local delivery points in central and northern Indiana. You can also pick up at the farm in Decatur for a discount.

Step 3: Decide how you want to pay your boarding fee.

Boarding fees can be paid with each pick up (weekly or biweekly), with your monthly statement, or paid a year in advance. You will get a 5% discount when you pay for the year in advance.

Step 4: Sign up.

Because of the laws in Indiana, the purchase of a herdshare is a little more involved than buying a gallon of milk from the store. To start, we will need your basic information which you can provide using our online form. Next, you will need to sign three contracts, a Bill of Sale for your share of the Pasture's Delights herd , a boarding agreement (Bovine Agistment Agreement) that outlines Pasture's Delights commitment to taking care of your herd, and agree on a suitable delivery location. If you are comfortable with the contract terms, you'll need to return the completed forms, along with your payment, to get your first share of milk.

Sound good? Then let's get started!

Once we receive your form, we will send you the contracts for you to print and sign, the payment that is due, and the date and time for your first delivery. You will need to sign these contracts and turn them in with your payment on the specified date and time to our delivery driver or mail them to the farm to complete your sign up. Your milk will be there ready for you.

If you would prefer to sign up in person, watch our Facebook page to see when the next Pasture's Delights' farm tour, call out, or local farmer's market event is scheduled. Bring your checkbook and we'll have contracts on hand. Or email us to arrange another meeting time at your convenience.

*Although we can't give you a 100-percent guarantee for how much milk the herd will produce, we try our best to manage the herd so it produces enough for one gallon per herdshare. This is the amount you can expect to get 99-percent of the time.
